Entrepreneurship can be an emotional roller coaster, especially when you’re first starting out. Those who take on the challenge are generally aware that there will be trade-offs. However, making mental notes that motivate you can put everything into perspective and help you attract what you want to achieve in your business.

In this short but motivational episode, Brent Daniels will share his “$1,000/hour” rule that he came up with when he was broke. It’s a mental game where he pretends to pay himself for the amount of time he spends on the phone prospecting. He also talks about the two things he always says to himself upon waking up so that he gets motivated to take action and stay positive.

I used to play this game. When I was doing my phone prospecting, when I was doing the cold calls that I would pretend in my mind that every hour that I made a call, I would pay myself $1,000. It was $1,000 an hour. That sounds incredible. The only thing you think about is not being broke, when you are broke, to be honest. It was like a really solid game. It was something that motivated me to be consistent and be on the phone.

I remember going through my head, and it would be fifteen minutes. I was like, “That’s $250 in my account.” Half hour, $500. Forty-five minutes I’m at $750. Let’s push for that full $1,000 an hour. I talked to many people in the TTP Family and the coaching students that I have. I say, “Imagine that I’m standing over your shoulder, and every hour that you were making calls, I give you a $1,000. How long would you be? What would you do? How would you find the gaps in your schedule to be able to fit that in?”

Stay proactive, stay optimistic, get out there and really make an impact in your community.

Everybody, without a doubt, would be like, “I would call 100 hours a week. You would have to tear me off the phones.” The reality is, I put that in my brain every day I woke up and said two things. One, “Who’s going to sign a contract today?” That mental antenna to find those opportunities and find those people will do business with you.

Number two is, “I’m going to make $10,000 today.” I remember just repeating it. It was like a mantra. It was constantly being put in front of me. Suddenly, I started calculating a number of hours and the income I was making when I was being proactive. When I was picking up the phone, it was over $1,250 an hour. It materialized. It’s absolutely incredible.

Those are the mental games that where you’ve got to be focused. That’s where you’ve got to be lasered in on, “What are your goals? What are your expectations of the efforts that you are putting in? How are you going to be sustainable with those efforts with so many distractions and different responsibilities going on in your life?”

$1,000 an hour, think about it. How much would you be on the phone if I was standing over and giving you $1,000 cash an hour? How much would all of those other excuses go away if that was the case? I’m telling you, it can be, it will be, stay proactive, stay optimistic, get out there and really make an impact in your community.
