3 Ways to Achieve Massive Success as a Wholesaler and Explode Your Wholesaling Business
Fixed Or Growth Mindset?
Let me ask you a question about all the podcasts you have been listening to, getting excited about, consuming, and taking in. When listening to podcasts, are you listening through a fixed mindset or looking at a growth mindset? Let me tell you the difference between both. A fixed mindset is saying, “This is what I think will work. This is what I know is what’s going to make me successful.” I’m looking for a little bit of an edge. I’m looking for an extra tool here or there. Maybe they can provide it. Maybe they can’t or do you go into these videos, into the podcasts, perhaps meetup groups or real estate investor associations that you meet all incredible people and network with, and you say, “What can I learn in this podcast? In this interaction with somebody that is doing more business with me?”
Write Down Three Things
Let me share with you a wonderful way to be able to do this consistently. What if every time you listen to a podcast, you write down three things that you learned every single time? I’m not talking about things that are theory or education but actual instructions. What if it was actual action items that you were going to take? You wrote them down, the growth mindset. I am telling you, I have struggled with this time and time again. Especially the more that I get successful in the business or feel like I have done some big deals or this and that. I get stuck in my ways.
In 2020, I read 52 books in 52 weeks, and that was all about growth. In 2021, I have only read a handful because I put it to the side. I felt like I had already gone through 52 books, that I had a fixed mindset. I started reading again and understanding that there’s so much more to learn. There is more growth that we can all take. Challenge yourself every single time. When you go and network with somebody, think in your mind, “What are three things that I can learn now?” Maybe they are new or don’t have as much experience but you can still learn from that interaction.
The mental construction of your daily activities, more than the activity itself, defines your reality.
There are a ton of unbelievable people, personalities, coaches, and people that will provide a ton of value to you on YouTube or podcasts. Are you taking the time to write them down and make it a concentrated effort for growth? Does it make you feel good that you are consuming this stuff and getting ideas but not taking action on them? That’s what it all comes down to. You get these instructions, the education, the entertainment but are you taking action on them? Challenge yourself to write down three things on everything. All these interactions that you can implement in your business and watch your business explode.
Mental Construction And Solving Probelms
I wrote down this. This is important because once you start taking action because I know, you will. I know you’ve got that growth mindset. I know that you will take action on these things but listen to this quote when you do. “The mental construction of our daily activities is more than the activity itself defining our reality.” Let me give you an example of this. Let’s say that you want to make calls. You want to TTP. You want to pick up the phone, be proactive. Now, do you say to yourself before that, the mental construction, “I’ve got to make these calls. I hope I don’t get rejected and find a deal?”
All these things or do you feel it back, and you say to yourself, “Now, in my community, someone is struggling. There’s a property owner that is struggling, and they have no way and no escape. The burden of this property is pressing down on them. They are completely stressed out, and I’m going to find that person. I am going to change their lives. I’m going to have a great quality conversation with a distressed property owner and help solve their problem.”
Do you see the difference there and the magic that’s in that? All of a sudden, you go from, “I’ve got to make these calls,” to, all of a sudden, you are the one that is helping support the people that are underserved in your community. How much more passion would you have? How much more belief in the process would you have if you knew that the actual task you were doing would solve the problem of somebody in your community? How beautiful is that?
Wholesaling Success: Every time you listen to a podcast, write down three things that you learned. Not theories or educational bits but actual instructions. Then you put those into action. That is a growth mindset.
That’s what wholesaling, and business is all about. We solve the problems of distressed property owners either they can’t solve it themselves, don’t think they have the resources or don’t have the people to guide them along and make sure that their problems are taken care of. That’s the beauty of it. It’s the mental construction of our daily tasks that we go through every day.
You are going on an appointment. Before going on an appointment, are you thinking that you are going into battle? You are a gunslinger, and you have to make sure that you are playing chicken with the seller. Do you go there and ask questions? Do you listen to them, and see what problems they have that you can solve? That’s the beauty of it. That’s when things start changing in your business is when you start making the mental constructions of your daily activities. That’s the reality.
What Is The Purpose Of Your Task?
I wrote down, “What is the purpose of the task that you do every day? What result does it lead to? What’s the purpose of calling people and answering people’s texts or phone calls when they ask about the process, what’s going on with their property or if you can help them with solving their problems? That’s what it’s about.
There is nothing wrong with making money. But it’s not the goal that will make you successful.
How about the task of lead follow-up? How about the task of you have already made this contact, talked to people, you have this lead that’s obviously in distress and never call them again? Lead follow-up all of a sudden becomes this unbelievably rewarding activity and task because you are helping people. You are solving a problem and providing value in the marketplace.
The last thing I want to leave with. This is a quote from page 30 of my favorite book, The Go-Giver. If you haven’t read it, you’ve got to read it. I read it every week for a year, and it exploded and tripled my business. Here is the line from there. “There is nothing wrong with making money. Lots of it. It’s not the goal that will make you successful.” What does that mean?
What that means is providing value. That’s where the success comes from. Looking at your tasks every single day and seeing that from a different mental construction makes the difference. You have to be overjoyed that you have the ability. You have to feel fortunate and lucky to be in this country, make these calls and have the opportunity to have distressed property. We are fortunate to have lists of distressed property owners, their contact information, what to say to them, how to follow up with them, know what to do on appointments, and how to sell those properties.
